This is my main and most popular class. I am currently running 8 groups of happy children. We read prize-winning books and learn about visual literacy. This class empowers young readers to learn about the world, allowing them to grow into more confident and engaged readers. Folklore Time Machine (with Mrs Gregory)
10+ y.o.
How do stories change over time? What do they say about people who tell them? We go back to before Christianity then we work through the ages and explore Nordic Folklore and move on through to the 20th century with its urban legends and jokes. Our main objective is to see how culture and politics are reflected in the stories we hear. The 21st century is going to be fun for teens because we are planning on covering memes and digital folklore.

Drama (with Mr Gregory)
5+ y.o.
In Drama, we start the class with me putting a spin on a well-known story. And the kids try and guess what story it is. Then we discuss the real story. After this, I get the children to act it out in their own voice.

History can be fun and the past holds the key to our present and future. Learning is achieved through talking, presentations, videos and project work. I focus on big events and famous people from the past.

Word Power (with Mrs Gregory)
7+ y.o.
Word Power is the course for young writers and story wizards. This year, we are reading classical stories and then comparing them with the ones with a twist. Like Roald Dahl’s Revolting Rhymes and Richard Ayoade’s The Fairy Tale Fan Club. This class evolved into a letter-writing project. My younger students wrote letters to their favourite characters from classical stories and older students wrote to them. It’s fun to receive a letter off Big Bad Wolf, isn’t it?

Geography (with Mr Gregory)

In Geography we cover such topics as Continents and Oceans, maps and navigation, all the way to animals and their habitats.

Award Animation (with Mr Gregory)

In this class we watch award animation and discuss what is happening. It helps children to gain confidence and aids their ability to use the language more productively. It also aids their listening skills and improves their attention span. During the class, at regular intervals we pause the animation and I ask them about their own experience. Like when something happens to the character, what would they do in the same situation.

This class is reading award-winning chapter books. This year, we’ve read together A Long Way from Chicago by Richard Peck. We work on the vocabulary and discuss the ideas hidden in the text. Another book this year is Wintersmith by Terry Pratchett. We are exploring Winter as personality. Personification is our theme in 2025/2026. The next story will be A Year Down Yonder by Richard Peck. Football Speaking Club (with Mr Gregory)
9+ y.o.
Kids love football, so what better way to learn about all the other pieces that go into the jigsaw of the sport. As we work through the different modules, I’ll be setting tasks and homework to give the kids a chance to show off their learning and knowledge. We use football as the foundation to then introduce other complex topics; such as advertising, marketing, employment contracts and coaching.
